The Filippo Amato’s biography
Filippo Amato was born in Licata in September 1962: he lost his father at the age of 11, he had to roll up his sleeves and together with his brother Fedele, he followed in his father’s footsteps by going fishing with the family boat.
At the age of 17 he began his adventure in the Licata shipyards and immediately noticed that there was something that fascinated him. Day after day his passion for the world of construction grew, and it was at that moment that he began a period of training mixed with passion, tenacity and perseverance that still characterize him today. In those years, when everything was done manually and it was essential to have a good memory, Filippo understood that his passion could be his job. He treasured all knowledge, learned a lot from the great builder De Marco Carlo who always told him: “One day you will be able to have your own construction site”.
From 1983 onwards he began to work on his own, traveling the world and also starting to build new buildings, until in 1993 he became Master of the Ax. Filippo did not stop and began to make his way learning new techniques and new methods until he decides to make his dream come true. He then began the bureaucratic process to open a building site of his own: he chooses the place to build the site and with immense sacrifice, helped by his family, he buys warehouses in Portopalo di Capo Passero. Thus it was that in 2001 the “Amato Shipyard” was born. Today, after 20 years of activity, at Cantiere Navale Amato you will find competence, reliability, innovation and qualified personnel offering numerous services.
